Dr. Ilia Protopapa is a Senior Lecturer in Marketing at King's Business School, King's College London. She joined the faculty in 2019 and serves as an Inclusive Education Partner Lead, strategically working towards closing the attainment gap at King's Business School.
Her research expertise spans multiple domains within marketing and education:
- Brand management and brand alliances
- Consumer behavior and digital marketing
- Diversity and inclusion in educational settings
- Marketing communications and regulatory focus theory
- Higher education pedagogy and learning development
Dr. Protopapa's recent scholarly work demonstrates a clear trajectory toward understanding consumer behavior in digital environments while simultaneously advancing inclusive educational practices. Her research bridges theoretical marketing concepts with practical applications in education and business contexts, particularly focusing on how diversity, inclusion, and technological advancements shape consumer and student experiences.
Her significant contributions to the field have been recognized through various awards:

As an educator, Dr. Protopapa teaches Marketing Research for the International Marketing MSc, Digital Marketing MSc and online Marketing MSc programmes at King's College London. She supervises postgraduate dissertation projects and has developed innovative approaches to inclusive education. She leads the Equality, Diversity, and Inclusion (EDI) item at the Faculty Education Committee and is an active steering group member of the Digital Education Steering Group and Pedagogy Group at King's Business School. Her pedagogical research focuses on addressing attainment gaps through innovative educational practices, including the use of artificial intelligence in virtual focus groups to investigate students' perceptions of Diversity & Inclusion across different racial groups.
Dr. Protopapa contributes significantly to academic service, serving as a Co-guest Editor for a special issue of the Marketing Education Review journal on 'Diversity and Inclusion Practices in Marketing Education' and as a reviewer for peer-reviewed business journals. She is also a Certified Management and Business Educator at the Chartered Association of Business Schools and a Fellow of the Higher Education Academy (HEA).
