Dr. Gareth Jones is a Behavioral Health Psychologist at Sheffield Hallam University, affiliated with the School of Sport and Physical Activity and the Sport and Physical Activity Research Centre (SPARC). He leads research on behavior change theories, physical activity promotion, and whole-system approaches for children/young people and those with severe mental ill health. His work integrates psychological theory with practical interventions across NHS and community settings.

- MSc Psychology of Sport and Exercise Behaviour (Northumbria University)
- MSc Psychology (BPS Conversion Course, Sheffield Hallam University)
- PhD in Behavioral Health Psychology (University of Sheffield)
Research Focus: Jones specializes in two core areas: (1) physical activity programs for children/young people through initiatives like the PESSPA Toolkit and Hillsborough Pump Track cycling facility, and (2) mental health interventions via the SPACES trial embedding physical activity into NHS pathways. He employs co-production methods and whole-system thinking to address health equity issues in deprived communities.
