Anna Lowe

Dr. Anna Lowe is an Associate Professor and Programme Manager at the National Centre for Sport & Exercise Medicine (NCSEM) at Sheffield Hallam University. She leads applied physical activity research projects and oversees 'Move More,' a city-wide initiative to increase physical activity in Sheffield. Based at the Advanced Wellbeing Research Centre, her work focuses on integrating physical activity into healthcare systems, particularly for populations with health conditions. She collaborates with hospitals, local authorities, and community organizations as part of NCSEM's partnership network.

Her research includes evaluating Public Health England’s Moving Healthcare Professionals Programme, co-producing guidance for physical activity among people with long-term health conditions, and exploring whole systems approaches to public health. Dr. Lowe holds a PhD and has practical expertise in community engagement and healthcare system reforms.

Her academic supervision spans interdisciplinary topics such as functional performance testing in pregnant women, physiotherapy curricula for exercise prescription, and metabolic syndrome management in primary care.
