Evelyn Sitter

Evelyn Sitter is a Professor of Fashion Design at the Burg Giebichenstein University of Art and Design Halle, assuming the role in the 2023 summer semester. Previously, she held visiting and acting professorships in 2022 and 2023. Born in Munich in 1984, she trained in Graphic and Fashion Design at the Designschule München and the University of the Arts Berlin (UdK). Her career includes textile design work for luxury brands like Chanel, Balmain, and Balenciaga, alongside collaborative projects in Berlin since 2016. She co-founded Studio Atelier B8 and is an exhibiting textile artist, with shows in Beirut, Brussels, Eindhoven, and Berlin.

Her academic focus emphasizes collaborative and interdisciplinary approaches in fashion design, aiming to dissolve hierarchies between art, design, and craftsmanship. Recent initiatives include a series of digital lectures on money, wages, and shame in the arts.

Teaching in 2025 includes modules on postcolonial perspectives in textile patterns and 'SPARKLE & SHINE,' exploring glitter as a political symbol in queer contexts. She has organized exhibitions like 'ZUKÜNFTE – Material und Design von Morgen' and participated in international projects such as the Lokal International exchange program in Dhaka, Bangladesh.

Evelyn Sitter also serves as the Central Gender Equality Officer at BURG and has curated events like 'Bootcamp - Humans only' at HKW Berlin. Her work bridges artistic practice, education, and industry, with a commitment to ethical and sustainable design strategies.
