Hans-Georg Barber

Hans-Georg Barber is a German artist, illustrator, and professor born in 1967 in Frankfurt/Oder. They hold a professorship in Illustration at Burg Giebichenstein University of Art and Design Halle since 2009, with previous academic roles including guest lecturer at University of the Arts Berlin (2002), lecturer at University of Applied Sciences Hamburg (2002–2004), and professorships at Sint-Lucas School of Arts Ghent (2006) and Hochschule für Gestaltung Offenbach (2007). They are a member of the Alliance Graphique Internationale (AGI) since 2004.

• Co-founded comic group/magazine "Renate" in 1989

Their creative practice spans illustration, graphic design, and fine arts, with exhibitions in Paris, Berlin, Stockholm, Helsinki, Ljubljana, and Zurich. Recent exhibitions include "ZUKÜNFTE – Material und Design von Morgen" (2025), "ghost poem – Arbeiten der Klasse Textile Künste" (2025), and "Take Off 2025 – Meisterschüler*innen der BURG" (2025).
