Peter Reimspieß

Peter Reimspieß (1939–2024) was a Professor of Product Design and Foundations at the Burg Giebichenstein University of Art and Design Halle. His career transitioned from mechanical engineering to design after a shipwreck in 1975 prompted his enrollment at the Staatliche Akademie der bildenden Künste Stuttgart. He held teaching roles at the Hochschule der Künste Berlin and served as an assistant at Stuttgart Academy (1990–1993) before becoming a full professor in 1994.

His work spans design education, product design, and material innovation, with collaborations including Meta Design Berlin and the Designer Societät Stuttgart. His legacy includes exhibitions such as ZUKÜNFTE – Material und Design von Morgen (2025) and involvement in academic events like the Burg Summer School. Though retired from active teaching in 2004, his contributions to design pedagogy and practice remain influential.
