Nanyi Li

Nanyi Li is a conceptual designer and artistic associate in the Fashion Design department at Burg Giebichenstein University of Art and Design Halle since October 2024. She collaborates with Prof. Evelyn Sitter on complex-gestalt projects and teaches foundational courses in textile patterns and print design, emphasizing postcolonial contexts and global cultural interconnections.

Her research explores cultural sustainability through upcycling methodologies, investigating intersections between art, design, and traditional craftsmanship. She examines how material reuse facilitates dialogues about cultural identity and environmental consciousness, creating 'Third Spaces' that challenge perceptions of value and tradition.

Li holds an M.A. in Conceptual Fashion Design from Burg Giebichenstein (2022) and a B.A. in Product Design from South China Normal University (2017). Her interdisciplinary practice spans fashion, contemporary jewelry, and digital art.
