C. Ondine Chavoya

Dr. C. Ondine Chavoya is the John D. Murchison Regents Professor in Art at the University of Texas at Austin's Department of Art and Art History (College of Fine Arts). He specializes in Chicanx/Latinx visual culture, contemporary art, and curatorial practices. Previously, he served as a Professor of Art History and Latinx Studies at Williams College (2002–2022) and held teaching roles at RISD and Tufts University. Chavoya is an award-winning scholar, curator, and co-editor of Chicano and Chicana Art: A Critical Anthology (2019), recognized as one of the best art books of the decade.

Education: BA in Art History and Comparative Literature from UC Santa Cruz; PhD in Art History from the University of Rochester (2002).

Research focuses on intersectional art histories, queer networks in Chicano art, and collaborative curatorial practices.
