Natalie Chavoya serves as Practitioner in Residence and Coordinator of Regional and Community Engagement & Outreach within the Communication, Film and Media Studies Department at the University of New Haven's College of Arts and Sciences.
- B.F.A. in Film & Television, New York University, Tisch School of the Arts (2005)
Her creative practice spans documentary filmmaking, music videos, and art installations with global reach, featuring collaborations with Grammy-nominated artists like Vijay Iyer and Pulitzer-finalist Wadada Leo Smith. Her work has premiered at Berlinale and SXSW while screening internationally at Hot Docs, Full Frame, and IDFA, with distribution through National Geographic and major media outlets including MTV, VH1, and NPR.
Chavoya maintains deep community ties through film workshops for Greater New Haven non-profits and advisory roles with Hands Offering Hope and P.L.A.C.E. Multicultural Children’s Museum. Recent initiatives include partnering with Fox61 on a distracted driving PSA contest for teens through Impact Teen Drivers.
