Michael Dragan serves as an Adjunct Professor in the Investigations Program at the Henry C. Lee College of Criminal Justice and Forensic Sciences, University of New Haven. With nearly two decades of federal law enforcement experience, he brings practical expertise to academic instruction in criminal justice and forensic science.
His research and professional interests span multiple critical areas of criminal investigation:
- Criminal investigation methodologies and case management
- Forensic science applications in financial crime
- Tax fraud investigation techniques
- Counterterrorism operations and strategy
- International money laundering detection
- Use of force protocols and training
- Terrorist finance tracking systems
- National security threat assessment
Professor Dragan retired as a Special Agent with the Treasury Inspector General for Tax Administration (TIGTA) in September 2024 after a distinguished career that included 17 years with the Internal Revenue Service-Criminal Investigation division. His 13-year tenure on the FBI's Joint Terrorism Task Force in New Haven provided extensive experience in counterterrorism operations.
Educated at the University of New Haven, where he earned both his Bachelor's Degree in Criminal Justice (1992) and Master's Degree in Forensic Science (1994), Professor Dragan maintains strong institutional connections while contributing his real-world expertise to student development.
