Dr. Brittan Braddock serves as Assistant Professor of Music, Director of Bands, and Coordinator of Music Education at Mercer University's School of Music. She leads the Mercer University Wind Ensemble and maintains an active national profile as a conductor, clinician, and music educator.
Her educational background includes:
- DMA in Wind Conducting and Literature, University of Colorado Boulder (2019)
- MA in Performance, Indiana University of Pennsylvania (2016)
- BME in Music Education (K-12), Concordia University Chicago (2005)
Dr. Braddock's research centers on Wind Conducting and Music Education, with specialized focus on Chamber Wind Ensembles and Women Composers including Ruth Gipps and Florence Price. Her work explores conductor health through dynamic alignment techniques and innovative programming approaches for wind ensembles.
As Coordinator of Music Education, she mentors future educators and co-chairs Women Band Directors International's mentorship committee. Her teaching portfolio includes Advanced Instrumental Conducting, Student Teaching, and Wind Ensemble direction. She has presented at major conferences including the College Band Directors National Association and Georgia Music Educators Association.
Dr. Braddock directs the Mercer University Wind Ensemble and maintains performance experience as a clarinetist with ensembles including the Pensacola Symphony Orchestra and Carnegie Hall performances. Her prior roles include public school teaching in Chicago and Westcliffe, and a visiting assistant professorship at the University of West Florida.
