Adam Gaines is an Associate Professor of Music at the University of Wisconsin - Green Bay. He teaches trumpet studio courses, directs the jazz program, and oversees jazz ensembles while also instructing jazz history and integrating music technology into his work. Dr. Gaines combines performance and academic leadership, serving as principal trumpet for the Weidner Philharmonic and co-founding the Green Bay Jazz Orchestra, where he also acts as president.
- Education: D.A. and M.M. in Music from Ball State University (2001, 2005), B.M. in Trumpet Performance from the University of Louisville (1999).
His research and practice focus on jazz pedagogy, brass instrument performance, and the intersection of technology with music education. Dr. Gaines actively performs in both jazz and classical genres, with international experience across Slovakia, the Czech Republic, Austria, and major U.S. festivals like Montreux and North Sea Jazz.
Dr. Gaines leads the Green Bay Jazz Orchestra and collaborates with local ensembles such as Brass Differential, a New Orleans-style funk band. His academic role includes mentoring students and contributing to music curriculum development at UW-Green Bay.
