Dr. Louie Eckhardt is an Associate Professor of Music and Director of Bands at Hastings College, where he conducts the Hastings College Band and Marching Bronco Band. He also teaches music history and high brass, and serves as Chair of the Department of Music and Theatre. His performance career includes roles as principal trumpet in the Hastings Symphony Orchestra, Monroe Symphony Orchestra, and Acadiana Symphony, as well as associate principal trumpet in the Louisiana Philharmonic Orchestra and others. He actively performs with ensembles like the Cathedral Brass Quintet and Nebraska Trumpet Ensemble, and engages in Baroque trumpet performance with groups such as La Follia Austin Baroque and American Bach Soloists.

His teaching and leadership focus on music education and ensemble direction.
