Amparo Lallana is an Associate Professor and Director (Content) for Languages at Regent's University London. She leads the Languages and Culture area, the new common undergraduate 'Perspectives' curriculum, and the Integrated Foundation program. With extensive experience in academic leadership, she has held various roles including Head of the Languages and Cross-cultural Studies Department and Programme Director for the BA (Hons) International Business. Her educational background includes: MA in Translation (with distinction), Middlesex University, London (1996) Post-Graduate Certificate in Teaching, Universidad de Valladolid, Spain (1983) BA English Philology, Universidad de Valladolid, Spain (1982) Certificate of Teaching Spanish for Business, ESADE, Barcelona, Spain (1998) Amparo Lallana's research focuses on Intercultural Communicative Competence (ICC), language education, and the relationship between language learning and employability. Her work explores how language acquisition extends beyond linguistic skills to encompass intercultural understanding, professional development, and global citizenship. She investigates innovative teaching methodologies including Computer Mediated Communication (CMC) and Online Intercultural Exchanges (OIEs), with particular emphasis on how these approaches prepare students for multicultural workplaces and global engagement. Her publication trajectory reveals consistent focus on practical applications of language education, particularly how language skills translate to professional competencies and career advancement. A recurring theme is the #CulturaTándem initiative, which facilitates virtual exchanges between students at Regent's University London and international partners to develop intercultural communication skills in authentic contexts. As a founding member of ELEUK (Association for the Teaching of Spanish in Higher Education in the UK), she chaired the organization from 2014-2019 and remains an active member. Her professional activities also include language consultancy services to the University of Westminster and serving as UK Administrator and Principal Examiner for Business Spanish Qualifications awarded by the Spanish Chamber of Commerce in Great Britain until 2020. Currently teaching Global Perspectives, Learning Perspectives, and Spanish modules, Amparo has played a pivotal role in curriculum development at Regent's University London, particularly in designing the new common curriculum model with interdisciplinary 'Perspectives' modules that bridge disciplinary boundaries and foster holistic student development.
