Beatriz Macione is the Associate Dean of the College of Arts & Sciences and Chair of the Languages and Literatures Department at King University. She holds a Professor rank in Spanish and has been affiliated with King University since 1991. Her academic journey includes a Ph.D. from the University of Alabama, a Licenciatura en Filosofía y Letras from the Universidad de Navarra, and a teaching certification from the Universidad de Zaragoza.
Her research interests focus on broadening students' global perspectives through language education, cultural diversity, and community service. Macione has spearheaded initiatives such as integrating service-learning into Spanish courses and organizing regional workshops for language educators. She emphasizes the importance of study-abroad programs and community engagement in fostering cross-cultural understanding.
Key awards include the Appalachian Center for Community Faculty Development Grant and the Andrew W. Mellon Foundation Trust Fellowship. Her work spans presentations on technology in language classrooms, art-based language learning, and cultural festivals like San Fermín.
