Jacqui Allen is an Associate Professor in the School of Nursing and Midwifery at Monash University. She holds a PhD in Nursing from Deakin University (2017) and has over 30 years of experience spanning clinical nursing, education, and research. Her work focuses on improving transitional care for older adults, informal carer support, and culturally competent healthcare. Education: PhD (Deakin), Graduate Certificate in Higher Education (Deakin), dual Bachelor of Arts (Honours) from University of Melbourne and Deakin University. Leadership: Awarded Senior Fellow Higher Education Academy (2023) for education innovation. Research Themes: Transitional care design, shared decision-making, LGBTQIA+ healthcare in nursing education, and reducing low-value healthcare practices. Her research contributes to UN Sustainable Development Goals related to quality education and good health. Current projects include co-designing carer support services and investigating cultural barriers in care transitions. She has led 5 major research projects since 2018, involving collaborations with institutions like Australian Association of Gerontology. Key Awards: HESTA Research Scholarship (2017), AAG Victorian Branch committee member. Grants: $2.3M secured across 5 active/funded projects focusing on aging and carer support. Her lab focuses on implementing co-designed solutions to improve care transitions, with particular attention to vulnerable populations including ethnic minorities and LGBTQIA+ communities.
