Janet Davis is a Professor and Microsoft Chair of Computer Science at Whitman College. She holds a Ph.D. from the University of Washington and a B.S. from Harvey Mudd College. Her research focuses on Human-Computer Interaction (HCI), Value Sensitive Design, and Persuasive Technology, emphasizing ethical and participatory design methods. She advises students on projects like Reading for Gender Bias and leads the GLAMlab research group. Teaching interests span computer science fundamentals, design, and societal impacts of technology. She promotes inclusivity in CS education through initiatives like CS@Whitman and the Whitties in Tech network.
