Dr. Dmitri Kudryashov is a Professor in the Department of Chemistry and Biochemistry at The Ohio State University (OSU), part of the College of Arts and Sciences. He joined OSU in 2011 and was promoted to Associate Professor in 2017, later becoming a full Professor. His research focuses on actin cytoskeleton dynamics, bacterial toxins, and their roles in health and disease. Education and Background: Kudryashov received his MD from the Russian Medical State University (Moscow) and a PhD from the Russian Academy of Medical Sciences. He completed postdoctoral research at UCLA under Prof. Emil Reisler, earning awards for his work on actin and myosin cytoskeletons, including the Paul Boyer Award and Herbert Newby McCoy Award. Research Interests: Key areas include: Actin cytoskeleton in health/disease: cancer metastasis, bacterial/viral pathogenesis, and osteogenesis Actin-specific bacterial toxins (e.g., ACD, TccC3) and their mechanisms Selective cancer cell ablation using split toxins Defensin-mediated neutralization of pathogens His lab uses interdisciplinary approaches like fluorescence spectroscopy, cryo-EM, and X-ray crystallography, collaborating with experts in NMR, microbiology, and structural biology.
