Novika Purnama Sari, PhD is an academic with dual affiliations: serving as a Lecturer at the Erasmus Graduate School of Social Sciences and Humanities (Erasmus University Rotterdam) and holding visiting research roles at the Autism Research Centre (University of Cambridge) and the Generation R Study (Erasmus Medical Centre). Her research focuses on autism spectrum disorders, family-child dynamics, educational outcomes, mental health resilience, and child development. She has contributed to interdisciplinary studies examining the interplay between biological factors (e.g., immunological markers), maternal health, and behavioral manifestations in children. Her work addresses topics like the impact of cytokine levels on autism-related sensory symptoms, academic performance disparities between neurotypical and autistic children, and how maternal BMI influences intergenerational autistic traits. During the pandemic, she studied heightened harsh parenting practices in the Netherlands. She also explores culturally specific resilience strategies for Indonesian families raising autistic children, integrating perspectives from both Western and Southeast Asian contexts. Key research areas: Neuroimmunology in autism, maternal-child trait correlations, pandemic-induced family stressors, and sensory-based interventions Methodologies include cohort studies, longitudinal analyses, and mixed-method approaches Collaborations span institutions like Generation R Study and the Autism Research Centre Her recent publications highlight innovative applications such as VR-based independence training for autistic individuals, while maintaining a strong focus on population-level epidemiological insights from longitudinal datasets.
