Dr. Ali Mirzazadeh is an Associate Professor in the Department of Epidemiology & Biostatistics at the University of California, San Francisco (UCSF) School of Medicine. With dual qualifications as an MD and PhD, along with an MPH, he brings a multidisciplinary approach to his research in global health equity. His work primarily focuses on HIV/AIDS epidemiology, substance abuse, women's health, and public health policy, with significant research activities centered in Iran and other global settings. Dr. Mirzazadeh's research interests center on epidemiology and surveillance systems, HIV/AIDS prevention and care, policy development for standards of care, substance abuse epidemiology, and women's health issues. His work often addresses vulnerable populations including people who inject drugs, female sex workers, and incarcerated individuals in both resource-rich and resource-limited settings. He has developed expertise in methodological approaches for studying hidden populations and has contributed significantly to understanding HIV transmission dynamics and prevention strategies in Iran and globally. His extensive publication record demonstrates consistent focus on HIV epidemiology, particularly among key populations in Iran and other countries. Recent work shows increasing attention to implementation science questions regarding HIV prevention tools like PrEP, as well as expanding into broader public health emergencies like the COVID-19 pandemic.
