Chua Qijia Alvin serves as a Research Fellow at the National University of Singapore's Saw Swee Hock School of Public Health, focusing on antimicrobial resistance (AMR), pandemic preparedness, and health systems resilience. His work bridges policy analysis, implementation science, and clinical practice, particularly in Southeast Asia.
Alvin holds a PhD in Public Health (NUS, 2024), an MSc in Infectious Diseases from the London School of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine (2018), and a BSc in Pharmacy (NUS, 2011). His career includes roles as a Senior Clinical Pharmacist (2013–2019) and Research Associate (2019–2025) at Singapore General Hospital and NUS.
His research emphasizes AMR governance, including analyses of national action plans and stakeholder collaboration in Cambodia, Singapore, and the Philippines. He also examines pandemic preparedness frameworks, contributing to the NUS-Lancet PRIME Commission and the Asia Centre for Health Security (ACHS).
Alvin’s publications highlight themes like AMR policy implementation, health system resilience during crises, and optimizing antimicrobial stewardship programs. His work underscores the need for multi-sectoral collaboration and evidence-based policy design.
He collaborates with global partners such as the WHO, the International Centre for Antimicrobial Resistance Solutions (ICARS), and national ministries to advance practical solutions for AMR and pandemic preparedness.
