Silvia Vong is an Assistant Professor, Teaching Stream at the University of Toronto's Faculty of Information (iSchool), where she serves as LIS Concentration Coordinator. With 15 years of professional librarian experience across Canadian universities—including roles as Associate Chief Librarian at Toronto Metropolitan University and Head of Public Services at University of St. Michael's College—she integrates practical expertise into her academic work. Her educational background includes a Master of Education from York University (2010-2013), Master of Library and Information Science from Western University (2008-2009), and Bachelor of Arts (Honours) from Queen's University (2002-2006). Dr. Vong's research centers on Critical Theory & Social Critique, Scholarship of Teaching and Learning, and Equity, Diversity and Inclusion (EDI) in academic libraries. Her doctoral work examines new public management practices' impact on EDI in Canadian universities, while her scholarship critically analyzes anti-racism efforts, critical management studies in librarianship, and racialized labor experiences. She challenges managerialist ideologies and advocates for transformative approaches to information literacy education. Her publication trends reveal a consistent focus on critical interrogation of power structures in libraries, with recent works addressing DEI legislation impacts, bamboo ceiling phenomena, and critical pedagogies for information literacy. She connects theoretical frameworks to practical applications in scholarly communication, student learning, and organizational change. Dr. Vong secured Social Sciences and Humanities Research Council (SSHRC) funding for her project 'The Impact of New Public Management Practices on EDI and Anti-racism Work in Canadian Universities' (2022-2025). She actively contributes to professional service through the Association of College and Research Libraries' Equity, Diversity and Inclusion Committee and Student Learning Committee (2022-2024), and the International Federation of Library Associations.
