Dr. Alex Lloyd is a Senior Lecturer at Loughborough University's School of Design and Creative Arts. He holds a PhD in Physiology from Loughborough University, where his doctoral research focused on neuromuscular fatigue in extreme environments. His research integrates human physiology with environmental ergonomics, particularly examining thermoregulation, clothing-environment interactions, and human performance under multiple environmental stressors. His work combines laboratory studies with applied collaborations, including military and commercial partners. Key research themes include the physiological impact of extreme temperatures, textile material effects on skin physiology, and vascular responses to environmental challenges. He has pioneered novel methodologies for assessing skin-textile interactions and thermal comfort in dynamic conditions. Publications highlight advancements in understanding vascular function, nitrate supplementation effects during cold exposure, and the design of sustainable sportswear. His interdisciplinary approach bridges biomedical engineering, exercise science, and material science to address real-world challenges in health, sports, and occupational safety.
