Dr. Andrew Kingsnorth is a Lecturer in Digital Health at Loughborough University's School of Sport, Exercise and Health Sciences. He holds a BSc (Hons) in Sport and Exercise Sciences from the University of Birmingham, an MSc in Physical Activity and Public Health, and a PhD in Digital Health from Loughborough University. His post-doctoral career includes roles such as Research Associate at the Leicester Diabetes Centre, where he led NIHR, NIH, and EU-funded projects focused on wearable technology, diabetes research, and real-world evidence generation. His current research emphasizes leveraging wearable device data to improve health outcomes for populations at risk of chronic conditions and clinical populations. Key areas include physical activity monitoring, diabetes management, and respiratory health (e.g., COPD).
Research interests span digital health interventions, wearable sensor technology, and chronic disease prevention. He has contributed to studies on the impact of physical activity on metabolic and inflammatory markers, glucose variability in diabetes, and the role of technology in behavior change. He is affiliated with the National Centre for Sport & Exercise Medicine and the Lifestyle for Health and Wellbeing research group.
His work integrates large-scale datasets (e.g., UK Biobank) and clinical trials (e.g., PACES RCT) to advance understanding of movement behaviors and their health implications. Recent projects include analyzing accelerometer-derived physical activity metrics, evaluating telehealth glucose monitoring efficacy, and investigating socioeconomic determinants of diabetes technology adoption. He has collaborated on EU-funded research and led studies on long-term health effects of Long Covid and hypoglycemia risk stratification.
Professional contributions include publications in high-impact journals and presentations at international conferences. His interdisciplinary approach bridges clinical practice, public health, and technological innovation to address global health challenges.
