Dr. Nick Spencer is an Associate Professor at Northumbria University within the Design Arts and Creative Industries school. He specializes in Design for Social Innovation , focusing on complex transitions and collaborative approaches to achieve equitable futures. He accepts PhD students in Design for Social Innovation , Design for Policy , and Design for Complex Situations . Education: PhD in Design Studies (2009) PCAPL in Teaching & Learning (2004) BA (Hons) in Design Studies (2002) His research explores how design practices can empower non-experts to address societal challenges through Design Thinking and Design Innovation . He actively engages with European networks in Social Entrepreneurship to scale impactful initiatives. Recent projects include co-designing holiday provision policies with schools and stakeholders. Notable activities include organizing conferences like the European Cooperation in Science and Technology CA18236 and collaborating on the Hartlepool Mental Health Alliance . He has led over 13 projects, including multi-regional HAF Plus initiatives addressing out-of-school provision.
