Bing Su, PhD, MPH is the KC Wong Endowed Professor and Director of the Shanghai Institute of Immunology at Shanghai Jiao Tong University (SJTU). He holds an adjunct appointment at Yale University in the Department of Immunobiology. His research focuses on signal transduction pathways, particularly MAPK and mTOR pathways, in immune and cardiovascular systems. He earned a B.S. in Cell Biology from Peking University, and MPH and PhD from Yale University. He leads the SJTUSM-Yale Institute of Immune Metabolism and has pioneered studies on kinase signaling in immune responses and vascular development. Notable achievements include elucidating roles of MEKK2/3 and Sin1 in immune cell function and cardiovascular biology. Dr. Su has been recognized as a Distinguished Professor at SJTU and holds the KC Wong Chair. His lab uses genetic and biochemical approaches to study kinase pathways in health and disease. Collaborations include work with Yale faculty like Lei Shen and David Schatz. Recent studies address T cell ferroptosis regulation, intestinal fibrosis mechanisms, and evolutionary adaptations in placental and neural development. His publications span Cell Genomics, Journal of Clinical Investigation, and Developmental Cell, highlighting his contributions to immunology, cancer biology, and evolutionary medicine. Key research themes include: 1) Molecular mechanisms of MAPK/mTOR signaling in immunity and vascular systems, 2) Evolutionary genetics of human traits (e.g., skin pigmentation, high-altitude adaptation), and 3) Translational studies in cancer immunotherapy and fibrotic diseases. His work bridges basic science with clinical applications through interdisciplinary collaborations.
