معرفی
Jos Boekhorst is a Research Associate at Wageningen University & Research, affiliated with the Host-Microbe Interactomics group. His research focuses on microbiome dynamics in health and disease, with particular expertise in metagenomics, host-microbe interactions, and microbial culturomics. He holds a doctoral degree and actively contributes to both human and animal microbiome studies.
Research Interests: Dr. Boekhorst investigates microbial ecosystems across diverse contexts including:
- Gut microbiome development in infants and piglets
- Streptococcus suis pathogenesis and translocation mechanisms
- Antimicrobial discovery from microbial communities
- Impact of diet and environmental factors on microbiome composition
- Resistome dynamics in disease-associated microbiomes
Publication Trends: Recent articles (2023-2025) demonstrate:
- Strong focus on Streptococcus suis pathogenesis mechanisms
- Innovative use of organoid models for infection studies
- Exploration of microbiome-based therapeutic interventions
- Geographical comparisons of microbial communities
- Integration of culturomics with metagenomic approaches
Supervision & Projects: Currently co-supervising PhD candidates on:
- FIBERME: Microbiome-artificial intelligence integration
- Pesticide effects on human microbiome and organ function
- Microbiome fortification in pigs via metagenomics-driven culturomics
