Melissa Keehn is a Lecturer in the Faculty of Education at the University of New Brunswick, specializing in gender studies and critical pedagogy. Her academic background includes a M.Ed from UNB (2017), B.Ed from Saint Thomas University (2010), and B.A. from the same institution (2007). She teaches courses spanning teaching methodologies, social studies education, feminist theory, and comprehensive sex education. Keehn's research critically examines how gender norms and sexual identities are constructed within educational systems. Her work employs participatory visual methods to explore queer joy and resistance in Atlantic Canadian contexts. Recent publications analyze dress code policies, teacher training in sexuality education, and community-based approaches to LGBTQ+ inclusion. Current courses include Teaching and Learning Theories, Cultural Contexts in Education, Feminist Theory and Education, and specialized methods courses in social studies and sex education. Her scholarship consistently addresses systemic barriers to inclusive education while developing transformative pedagogical approaches.
