Margaret H. Zhang is an Assistant Professor at Widener University Delaware Law School, where she teaches Civil Procedure, Employment Discrimination Law, and Legal Methods. Her research focuses on reproductive justice, workplace justice, and environmental justice, examining intersections between these fields. She holds a B.M. in piano performance from the University of Michigan and a J.D. cum laude from the University of Pennsylvania Law School.
Previously, she served as a Visiting Assistant Professor and Equity & Inclusion Fellow at Rutgers Law School, and as Interim Associate Director for Equity and Inclusion at UPenn Law School. Her advocacy work includes advancing rights for pregnant and lactating individuals, and she has clerked for federal judges in the Third Circuit and D.C. District Court.
Her publications critique workplace equity laws, analyze pregnancy rights in climate contexts, and explore tribal sovereignty in criminal jurisdiction. Key contributions include successful amicus briefs on Title IX protections for dating violence victims and constitutional challenges to fetal assault charges.
Zhang has engaged in policy advocacy via government submissions on workplace safety, FDA chemical reviews, and fetal rights. Her op-eds address pregnancy discrimination and climate impacts on workers. She combines legal scholarship with practical advocacy to advance systemic equity reforms.
