Tess Seddon is a Visiting Lecturer specializing in BA (Hons) Acting courses. She serves as Artistic Director of TheatreState and has collaborated with institutions like Leeds Playhouse, National Theatre, and Gob Squad. Her work focuses on examining systems of power through theatre, blending classics, adaptations, and new writing to create provocative performances. Trained at National Theatre Studio Directors Course and Wooster Group (New York) Resident Trainee Director at Leeds Playhouse (2016–17) Research interests include intersectional analyses of power dynamics in politics, gender, sex, and pop culture. Notable works: Git , The Fanny Hill Project , On the Benefits of Being a Troll , and Tribute Acts . Current project: Say Yes to Tess , a musical about her 2017 general election experience. Leads writer-director development for Hull Truck and National Theatre’s New Views program. Directs young company shows for Almeida, Southwark Playhouse, and Young Vic. Collaborates with Leeds Playhouse through TheatreState’s associate partnership.
