Suyeon Jo is an Assistant Professor of Public Management in the School of Government and Public Policy at the University of Arizona. Her research focuses on public and nonprofit management, public participation, volunteerism, and collaborative governance. She holds a Ph.D. in Public Administration from Syracuse University and an MPA from Texas A&M University. Her work examines how participatory and collaborative processes influence governance outcomes, including studies on volunteering trends, democratic ethos in bureaucracies, and the role of nonprofit organizations in fostering civic engagement. Recent research explores the economic drivers of volunteering decline in the U.S. and the impact of community racial composition on volunteering patterns among people of color. Prof. Jo has contributed to journals like Public Administration Review and Public Management Review. Her articles address topics such as co-production in healthcare, open government determinants, and the interplay between nonprofit human resources and program needs. She is affiliated with the Collaborative Governance Faculty and Public Administration/Public Management Faculty groups at the University of Arizona, emphasizing interdisciplinary collaboration in public policy education and research.
