Charles Conteh is a Professor in the Department of Political Science at Brock University, Faculty of Social Sciences, where he also serves as Director of the Niagara Community Observatory. He holds a BA (Hons) from the University of Toronto, an MA from Carleton University, and a PhD from McMaster University.

His research and teaching focus on Canadian and comparative public policy, public management, political economy, and multilevel governance. He investigates governance structures in complex policy systems, strategic policy formulation, and the reinvention of local and regional economies amid global economic and ecological shifts. A secondary focus includes governance reform in developing countries.
His recent publications span books, journal articles, and book chapters, with a strong emphasis on innovation policy, intergovernmental collaboration, and city-region governance. Themes across his work include accountability in networked governance, policy adaptation in federal systems, and the role of intermediary institutions in regional development.

Prof. Conteh has secured research funding from SSHRC, BUAF, BSIG, IPAC, and CIDA. He collaborates with scholars nationally and internationally and mentors research assistants. He is actively involved in policy-relevant research through the Niagara Community Observatory and contributes to academic discourse on public administration and governance reform.
He is affiliated with research networks in public management and contributes to interdisciplinary and transnational policy studies.
