Livianna Tossutti is an Adjunct Professor in the Department of Political Science at Brock University, having previously served as an Associate Professor there. She holds a BJ from Carleton University, an MA from the University of Windsor, and a PhD from the University of Toronto. Her research focuses on local government immigrant integration policies, resilient cities and neighborhoods, and political/civic participation. She currently co-directs a SSHRC-funded Partnership Development Grant (2024-2027) titled 'Mobilizing Subjugated Knowledges for a Just and Inclusive Niagara' and leads a SSHRC Insight Development Grant examining post-COVID resiliency in Toronto's social services.
Dr. Tossutti has authored/co-authored numerous books including Canadian Politics Today: Democracy, Diversity and Good Government (Pearson, 2021), and has contributed to peer-reviewed journals such as Urban Affairs Review, Canadian Journal of Political Science, and Journal of Urban Affairs. She has received six teaching awards/nominations for excellence in instruction.
Her research affiliations include the Immigrant and Refugee Research Institute (University at Buffalo), Social Justice Research Institute (Brock), and Niagara Community Observatory (Brock). Current projects emphasize urban resilience, immigrant integration, and community-based research methodologies.
