Dr. Jessica Parrish is an Assistant Professor in the School of Public Policy and Administration at Carleton University, where she teaches courses on local/urban governance and sustainability. She holds a PhD in Political Science from York University (2017), an MA in Political Science from York University, and a BSc Hons in Political Science from Carleton University.
Her interdisciplinary research examines:
- Urban transformations through environmental gentrification and housing financialization
- Intersections of social/environmental justice with settler colonialism
- Feminist analyses of social reproduction and urban sustainability
- Policy impacts on tenant rights and urban equity
Her publications (10+ articles) predominantly focus on urban political ecology, housing justice, and decolonial approaches to urban development. Recent works explore ESG investing in housing markets, fiduciary activism, and settler colonial property regimes, demonstrating consistent engagement with financialization and spatial justice themes across 2008-2025.
