Nicole Goodman is an Associate Professor in the Department of Political Science at Brock University. She holds a BA and MA from the University of Guelph, and a PhD from Carleton University. Dr. Goodman serves as Director of the Centre for e-Democracy and is a Senior Associate at the Munk School of Global Affairs' Innovation Policy Lab.
Her research examines digital technology's impact on Canadian political institutions, with focus areas including: political behavior, election systems, Indigenous governance, and local government policy. Core projects investigate internet voting adoption and its effects on participation patterns and administrative efficiency.
Research publications demonstrate consistent focus on digital democracy, voter behavior analysis, and policy implementation studies across Canadian contexts. Recent work explores technological disparities in electoral access and comparative Indigenous governance models.
Significant grants include SSHRC-funded studies on Ontario municipal elections and digital technology impacts on Indigenous communities. Additional funding from NSERC and Mitacs supports her interdisciplinary work connecting technology, governance, and public engagement.
Dr. Goodman leads research partnerships with government agencies and Indigenous communities. She has provided expert testimony to Ontario's Standing Committee on the Legislative Assembly and federal Special Committee on Electoral Reform.
