Michael Pal is an Associate Professor at the University of Ottawa's Faculty of Law (Common Law Section) and a Faculty member at the Centre for Law, Technology and Society. His expertise lies at the intersection of law, technology, and democracy, with a focus on constitutional law, election law, and cyber-security threats to democratic processes. He holds a J.D. and S.J.D. from the University of Toronto and an LL.M. from NYU.

Research Interests:
Pal's work addresses how technology impacts democratic institutions, including election cyber-security, voter privacy in big-data contexts, and the role of social media in elections. Pal has authored over 20 scholarly articles on topics including Canada's electoral modernization, constitutional design, and democratic rights. He advises governments and election bodies globally, served on Ontario's Far North Electoral Boundaries Commission, and contributes to parliamentary committees and international advisory boards.

He collaborates with interdisciplinary teams at the Centre for Law, Technology and Society and participates in global initiatives like the Electoral Integrity Project. His research lab explores emerging challenges in digital democracy and electoral governance.
