Leonard Seabrooke is a Professor at the Department of Organization within the Organizations, Markets and Governance (OMG) school at Copenhagen Business School (CBS). His research focuses on the micro-level dynamics of international political economy (IPE), including transnational governance, professional networks in global institutions, and the interplay between professionals and regulatory frameworks. He explores topics such as generational conflicts in housing policies, tax regimes, and the role of social taboos in family formation across welfare systems.
Seabrooke’s work integrates tools from political economy and economic sociology, including sequence analysis and social network analysis. He has held visiting roles at the Norwegian Institute of International Affairs since 2018, including a 20% post as a Research Professor (2023–2024). He co-convenes the course Topics in International Political Economy: Professions and Organizations in Transnational Governance at CBS.
His research interests are organized around transnational governance structures, the role of professionals in shaping global financial and economic systems, and the political economy of demographic change. Key areas include global wealth chains, tax justice, and the influence of transnational advocacy networks. His recent work emphasizes the micro-foundations of transnational activism and the governance of global economic justice.
Publications span journals like Socio-Economic Review, Public Administration, and Global Networks, with a focus on professional networks, institutional legitimacy, and the socio-economic dimensions of global governance. He advises on transnational governance, international financial regulation, and career trajectories of professionals in policy-making contexts.
Seabrooke collaborates on projects such as Global Re-ordering: Evolution through European Networks and serves on the Advisory Board of the Corporate Accountability Network. His work bridges academic research with policy-relevant insights on global economic challenges.
