Professor Tony Celenza is an academic emergency physician affiliated with the University of Western Australia (UWA) Medical School and serves as a Specialist Emergency Physician at Sir Charles Gairdner Hospital since 1998. He holds a Professorship in both Emergency Medicine and Medical Education. Education: MB BS (Western Australia) MClinEd (New South Wales) Fellow of the Australasian College for Emergency Medicine (FACEM) Fellow of the Royal College of Emergency Medicine (FRCEM) Research Interests: Professor Celenza focuses on two core areas: Medical Education (curriculum design, clinical teaching, assessment methods) and Emergency Medicine Research (toxinology, cardiac arrest outcomes, pre-hospital care, falls management). Recent work explores healthcare worker mental health during the pandemic, AI in emergency care, and medical student professional behavior development. Grants & Collaborations: Medical Research Future Fund (MRFF) project investigating medical student performance trajectories. Monash University grant on medical student assessment strategies. UQ/UWA collaboration on severe sepsis management. Telehealth project for clinical ultrasound supervision (2010-2011). Paramedic care models to reduce ED overcrowding (2012-2014). Labs/Teams: Active in emergency medicine education and clinical research teams within the UWA Medical School, collaborating with hospitals and health departments across Australia.
