Espen Dietrichs

Professor Espen Dietrichs is a senior neurologist and researcher at the Department of Neurology, University of Oslo, with over 30 years' experience specializing in movement disorders. His clinical expertise encompasses Parkinson's disease, dystonia, tremor, and cerebellar ataxia, with particular focus on deep brain stimulation therapies and neuroanatomical research.

His research program investigates neuromodulation approaches for treatment-resistant movement disorders, with 60% of recent publications focusing on DBS optimization and outcome studies. He leads randomized trials comparing surgical targets and evaluating long-term effects of subthalamic nucleus stimulation.
