Professor Liandong ZHANG serves as the Dean of the School of Accountancy at Singapore Management University (SMU) and holds the prestigious Lee Kong Chian Professorship in Accounting. Since joining SMU in 2017, he has held leadership roles including Associate Dean (Research) (2017-2023) and Deputy Dean (2023-2025). His academic career spans faculty positions at City University of Hong Kong and Concordia University's John Molson School of Business. He holds a Ph.D. in Accounting from Nanyang Technological University and a Bachelor's degree from Tsinghua University. His research focuses on financial reporting, corporate governance, taxation, and digital information, with a particular emphasis on corporate disclosure mechanisms, tax planning strategies, and ESG rating integrity. His work has been published in top-tier journals like Journal of Accounting Research and Journal of Financial Economics . Professor Zhang has received multiple accolades, including the 2024 Moskowitz Prize Honorable Mention and the SMU Outstanding Graduate Supervisor Award (2024). He currently edits Corporate Governance: An International Review and serves on editorial boards for Asia-Pacific Journal of Accounting and Economics and International Review of Finance . His advising encompasses doctoral students in SMU-ZJU DBA programs, including ZHU Qinghua, LUO Jiehui, QU Fang, and ZHONG Weikun. His research explores intersections between legal frameworks, corporate behavior, and market outcomes, with recent focus on misinformation regulation, cybersecurity implications of managerial decisions, and the evolving role of accountants in sustainability transformations.
