Victoria Menzies is an Assistant Professor in the School of Education at Durham University. She is affiliated with the Durham Research Methods Centre and the Wolfson Research Institute for Health and Wellbeing. Her expertise lies in designing and evaluating educational interventions, particularly using randomized controlled trials (RCTs). She holds a BSc in Psychology from the University of York and a Master’s in Research from Strathclyde University.
Her research interests focus on educational evaluation methodologies, pilot trials, and interventions in mathematics and early years education. Notably, she leads a £450k grant evaluating the ICCAMS Maths intervention across 100+ secondary schools. She has also conducted evaluations of early years programs, project-based learning, and Saturday school initiatives.
Her publications emphasize RCT applications in education, including influential work on early numeracy and language interventions. Awards include a 2000 nomination for a Durham Research Staff Award and an invited speaking role at the Royal Statistical Society’s RCT conference (2018).
Victoria has managed large-scale grants and advised on numerous educational projects. Her work bridges research and practice, addressing challenges in trial implementation and educational equity. She collaborates with institutions like the Education Endowment Foundation and contributes to both academic and policy-oriented reports.
