Todd Henshaw, PhD, is Distinguished Visiting Professor at the Schwarzman Scholars program, Tsinghua University, and Senior Fellow at the Center for Leadership and Change Management, The Wharton School, University of Pennsylvania. He teaches executive and MBA leadership courses at Wharton and has previously served as Professor at Columbia University and as Academy Professor & Director of Leadership Programs at the United States Military Academy at West Point, where he architected the Academy’s leader-development system.
Education:
- PhD in Business, University of Kansas – dissertation focus on leadership development & organizational culture
- MBA, The University of Texas at Austin – concentration in Executive Leadership & Strategy
Research & Teaching Focus:
Todd’s scholarship and teaching center on designing institutional systems that cultivate strategic leadership, leveraging organizational culture as a lever for leader growth, and translating military leader-development models to corporate environments. His work integrates experiential learning, developmental feedback, and systems thinking to build leadership capacity at individual, team, and enterprise levels.
Consulting Impact:
He has extended his research into practice by advising global organizations—including GE, GSK, Coca-Cola, Huawei, IBM, Morgan Stanley, Bank of America, Novartis, McKinsey, Bain, and the National Military Academy of Afghanistan—on comprehensive leadership improvement initiatives ranging from succession planning to culture change.
Advising & Program Leadership:
- Inaugural Director, Eisenhower Leader Development Program (West Point–Columbia graduate partnership)
- Faculty designer & director of West Point’s Leader Development System
- Executive educator for Wharton’s open-enrollment and custom leadership programs
Current Roles:
At Wharton he continues to direct executive leadership modules, mentor MBA candidates, and conduct applied research through the Center for Leadership and Change Management, while annually delivering intensive leadership seminars to Schwarzman Scholars at Tsinghua.
