Kate Conkey is a Colonel in the U.S. Army and currently serves as an Academy Professor at the United States Military Academy at West Point, where she instructs in the Department of Behavioral Sciences and Leadership. She has held various leadership roles, including battalion command of the Brigade Special Troops Battalion, Area Support Group – Kuwait, and Professor of Military Science at the University of Hawai’i – Manoa Army Senior ROTC Program. Her academic background includes a Ph.D. from Auburn University, an M.A. from Columbia University, and a B.A. from Furman University.

Research Interests
Kate Conkey focuses on Leader Development, Character, Leader Humility, and Team Effectiveness. Her work explores the psychological and behavioral aspects of leadership, particularly in military contexts, aiming to enhance team performance and resilience under stress.
Publications
Her recent work, "Exploring the Utility of Psychological Safety in the Armed Forces" (2024), investigates the role of psychological safety in military unit cohesion and effectiveness. Other collaborative research includes "Unveiling Silence: Enhancing Screening with Physiological Insights," co-authored with Cartwright, Richardson, Conkey, and Bonzalet.
