Tammy Mills is a Senior Lecturer of Education at the University of Maine’s College of Education and Human Development (School of Learning and Teaching). With 28 years of K-9 teaching experience across urban, suburban, and rural schools, she has held roles such as math specialist, literacy specialist, and curriculum coordinator. Her expertise spans teacher development, educational theory, and multicultural education.
Education:
- Ph.D. in Teacher Education/Teacher Development (2016), Montclair State University

- Reading Recovery Training (University of Maine)
Research Interests: Dr. Mills explores complexities of teaching and learning through non-linear perspectives. Her work emphasizes teacher expertise development, particularly in Reading Recovery contexts, using frameworks like the Model of Domain Learning. She investigates ethics in education and qualitative methodologies to understand pedagogical practice during crises like the pandemic.
