Prof. Sybe de Vries holds the position of Full Professor of Public Economic Law at Utrecht University's Faculty of Law, Economics and Governance. He also serves as a visiting professor at the University of Trento and holds the Marcel Storme Chair at Ghent University. His research focuses on EU Internal Market Law, the digital and green transitions, and the interplay between fundamental rights and public interests. He co-directs the Utrecht Centre for Regulation and Enforcement in Europe (Renforce) and previously led the Utrecht Centre for Global Challenges (UGlobe). Prof. de Vries is an honorary judge at the Rotterdam District Court and chairs the Netherlands Association for European Law (NVER). His work includes coordinating the FP7-funded bEUcitizen project on European citizenship and contributing to high-profile media discussions on EU law topics.
