Susan M. Hutton serves as an Adjunct Lecturer at the Faculty of Law, Queen's University. Prior to this academic role, she practiced for 32 years as a senior partner at Stikeman Elliott LLP specializing in Competition Act and Investment Canada Act matters, advising on Canada's most complex mergers and acquisitions, criminal and civil compliance, trade remedy litigation, and anti-corruption frameworks.
Her research and professional expertise centers on Competition Law, Mergers and Acquisitions, Corporate Compliance, Trade Remedies, and Anti-Corruption Law. She actively contributes to the field through scholarly publications and recent guest lectures at McGill University, Columbia University, and the University of Ottawa, maintaining international recognition for her pragmatic approach to complex regulatory challenges.
Ms. Hutton holds significant professional leadership positions: member of the CD Howe Competition Policy Council, Vice-Chair of the International Committee of the American Bar Association’s Section of Antitrust Law, past-Chair of the Canadian Bar Association’s Competition Law Section, and founding Editor-In-Chief of the Canadian Competition Law Review. She has been consistently ranked among Canada's top competition law practitioners by Chambers Global and Chambers Canada, with sources highlighting her "superbly pragmatic" methodology and "incredible" regulatory knowledge.
