Susan Fawcett

Susan Fawcett is a Senior Teaching Fellow at the Southampton Education School within the University of Southampton. She leads the Physical Education Postgraduate Certificate in Education (PGCE) Programme and supervises dissertations for Masters students. Her roles include Programme Leader for Secondary PGCE Physical Education and former roles such as Deputy Director of Sport and Primary PGCE Physical Education Lead.

Dr. Fawcett’s teaching interests focus on Physical Education pedagogy for secondary and primary education. She has extensive experience in Initial Teacher Education (ITE), including a 4-month secondment to the University of Wollongong in Australia. Prior to academia, she served as Head of Girls’ Physical Education in secondary schools, specializing in gymnastics and dance. She holds a BEd (Hons) and an MA in Education (Distinction, 1996).

Her career highlights include co-developing the Physical Education PGCE at Southampton and contributing to international ITE collaborations. Beyond academia, she is an active sailor and former Southern Region gymnast.
