Ann Jones is a Senior Lecturer at the School of Education, Language and Psychology at York St John University. She has been with the university since 2002, following 15 years of primary school teaching in London, where she worked with students aged 5–11, including those with diverse needs such as hearing impairments. Her roles include Lead for Year 3 of the BA Primary Education programme, School Experience Director, and former Programme Lead for the PGCE Primary University Centred Programme.
Education:
- B.Ed (Hons) in Dance and Physical Education from Nene College, Northampton
- MA in Educational Improvement, Development and Change
- Postgraduate Certificate in Academic Practice (PCAP)
Research: Focuses on the discrepancy between summative teacher grades of male and female PGCE students. This work addresses gender equity in educational assessment and teacher training outcomes.
Teaching: Specializes in professional studies, geography, English, PSHE, and PE across undergraduate and postgraduate programmes. Currently teaches on the BA Primary Education and PGCE Primary University Centred programmes.

Experience: Over 15 years of primary school experience, including roles as curriculum coordinator for English, maths, PE, and creative arts, and Senior Teacher overseeing staff induction and Initial Teacher Education (ITE).
