Karin Boyle

Karin Boyle is a Senior Lecturer in Primary Education at Manchester Metropolitan University's School of Education. She leads two units on the BA Primary programme and teaches across the BA, PGCE, and doctoral studies programmes.

Karin's research centers on reading comprehension, focusing on how teachers approach its instruction and understanding. She explores the significance of fluency in reading progress, the impact of reading enjoyment on lifelong habits, and the intersection between technical reading skills and broader educational outcomes.

Prior to joining Manchester Met, she worked as a Primary Teacher for 23 years, with specialized roles including:

• Reading Recovery Teacher (4 years)
• ECaR (Every Child a Reader) Teacher
• Dyslexia Teaching Specialist (PG Cert from Edge Hill, 2012)

Professional contributions include serving as an External Examiner for Northampton University's Primary Education BA Programme (2016-2020).
