Sun Kyoung Kim is an Associate Professor in the Metalsmithing/Blacksmithing Program at the School of Art and Design, Southern Illinois University Carbondale. She holds a BFA, MFA from Sungshin Women’s University (Seoul, Korea), and a second MFA from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign (USA). Her research focuses on jewelry as a medium for interactive performance, exploring human relationships through wearable art. Notable awards include the Brodie Fellowship and Niche Award.

Her work bridges art and interaction, emphasizing the body’s role in defining jewelry’s meaning.
